For the past month, students at Center School and Golden Brook School have been in rehearsals for “The Wizard of Oz.” Directed by Senorita Couser, Center School students will tackle the lead roles in the show, create the set and props, and work as the backstage crew on show nights. On Monday and Wednesday afternoons, our actors are hard at work learning their blocking, songs and choreography as well as basic acting techniques like script analysis and characterization. In the coming weeks, our set pieces will be transported to Center School, and our backstage crew will begin designing and painting backdrops and creating props for the production. In what is truly a group effort, the high school and middle school theater departments have offered to volunteer at rehearsals and show nights, and allowed us to borrow various set and costume pieces. Our students are excited to showcase their talents in our production, and we look forward to seeing you all there!
